Naco is pleased to have supported the Edinburgh-based charity ‘It’s Good 2 Give!’ by supplying its DB50 ‘A’ Class Slim Double Bank Storm Louvres to the newly built Ripple Retreat.
‘It’s Good 2 Give!’ was established in 2010 with the aim of providing practical support for young cancer patients and their families. Ripple Retreat has been built to offer families a safe, relaxed and enjoyable respite house to spend a short break escaping from the challenges of their illnesses. The tranquil holiday home is situated on the southern bank of Loch Venachar, a location chosen specifically because it is within reasonable distance of Edinburgh hospitals so those still requiring frequent treatment can get back to the city within an hour if needed.
Inspired by nature
The 3 bedroom retreat is surrounded by beautiful views of the water and nearby hills. The design of the building was inspired by this location, with the distinctive wave shaped roof painted in pigment blue zinc to capture the changing light, replicating the ripples of the loch. The large glass windows connect the interior of the house to the beautiful exterior setting and offer stunning views across the loch.
Satisfying design requirements
Naco was approached and asked if it could offer a fixed blade louvre to the retreat’s plantroom. The DB50 ‘A’ Class Slim Double Bank Storm Louvre seemed to be the perfect fit for the site’s requirements; it is not only pleasing to the eye and would therefore complement the design of the rest of the building, but the DB50’s performance is also remarkably efficient and provides the highest levels of weather protection for buildings.
Support throughout entire project
The entire project has been aided by generous contributions of time, resources and expertise; the retreat has been built on entirely donated land and many contractors and suppliers for the project, including Naco, have given and received a surplus of free support with the build.
Ripple Retreat is expected to welcome its first guests later this month, following its official opening on Friday 12th May.
